Pavarotti Tribute DVD / San Remo Festival

February 8, 2009

Last year Zucchero was one of the artists participating in a tribute concert to celebrate the life of Luciano Pavarotti and raise money for UNHCR in Petra, Jordany. Now, a dvd of this concert, which also included performers such as Andrea Bocelli, Sting, Laura Pausini, Jovanotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, is available. Zucchero performs two songs (Va, Pensiero and Nel Cosi Blu) and delivers a speech about Pavarotti.

At the end of this month, the annual San Remo Festival will take place once again, and for the first time since 2001 (when Zucchero (co-)wrote both the winning and running up songs performed by Elisa and Giorgia) Zucchero will be an active participant, this time backing his daughter Irene, with the fellow members of his band Adelmo E I Sorapis, on the song “Spiove Il Sole”, which will be contending in the Proposet category (as far as we can tell intended for younger artists).

Una Carezza

October 28, 2008

Since last friday the new Zucchero single “Una Carezza” is played on radio stations throughout Italy. The song’s music and lyrics are written by Zucchero, and are a tribute to his mother Rina Bondavalli in Fornaciari, who passed away in November 2001. “Una Carezza” was previously recorded by Zucchero’s daughter Irene Fornaciari, and released on her debut album, and is one of several new studio songs that will be a part of “Live in Italy”, the new live album/dvd which will see its release at the end of next month.

Although no official video has been released (yet), the song can be listened to on Youtube:

Happy Birthday Zucchero!

September 25, 2008

Zucchero is celebrating his 53d birthday today! He will also be performing at the Sommerville Theatre tonight, so we wish Zucchero and his family, as well as all those who will be present at the show, an amazing day and night!

Live dvd(s) in November / Australian tour

September 18, 2008

This weekend Zucchero’s official fanclub had its fifth annual fan gathering, and as always, Zucchero took the stage to play his biggest hits, as well as some older, often ignored material (who would’ve thought the 1981 single Una Notte Che Vola Via would ever be played again). Also, like several times before, the sugar man came with some news: this coming November should see the release of dvds of both the San Siro concert of this year, and the Verona concerts of last year. A Verona dvd was scheduled to be released late 2007, but Universal Music pulled the plug, and instead went with the video clip anthology. Of course, no official release date(s) are available, so until then nothing is official.

What is official, is that Zucchero will be playing his first ever Australian concerts this year. In November, four concerts are scheduled for Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney:

Sun 16 Australia Perth Buswood Theatre
Tue 18 Australia Adelaide Festivalhall
Wed 19 Australia Melbourne Palais Theater Melbourne
Thu 20 Australia Sydney The Entertainment Center

Tickets for the shows may or may not already be on sale, so if you live in Australia, check with the venues or the regular ticket selling websites.
