Tomorrow Zucchero is scheduled to be one of the performers during the Mandela Day concert in Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Tickets are still available. However, the show will also be shown live on the Mandela Day website in two formats: a free broadcast, and an On-Demand broadcast (for only $5, with all proceeds going to the 46664 anti-AIDS campaign).
This week, Zucchero also made an appearance during the Ischia Global Fest with his friend Sting, performing a duet version of Sting’s Every Breath You Take, and a solo You Are So Beautiful.
On July 18 Zucchero will join many other major recording artists, among them Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Dave Stewart and Alicia Keys, for a celebration of Nelson Mandela’s 91st birthday in Radio City Music Hall in New York. In response to the major earthquake that hit central Italy on April 21, a song has been recorded to raise money in support of the people of Abrezzo. The song, “Domani 21-04-09,” features a large cast of Italian singers, including: Jovanotti, Laura Pausini, Gianna Nannini, Gianni Morandi, Nek, Antonello Vendetti, Tiziano Ferro, and Zucchero. The song will be released in the coming days, as well as a supporting video. All publishing and recording rights deriving from the sale of the track will be donated to the “Salviamo l’arte in Abruzzo.”
Last Saturday, Zucchero was a guest on RAI 3’s Che Tempo Che Fa for an interview, and six (!) performances in promotion of Live in Italy. Finally, this Saturday, Zucchero will be in Switzerland to perform during the Mr. Switzerland competition. The show will be broadcast live on Swiss TV.
In the 1990’s Zucchero has made several appearances at the French TV-show Taratata, and now most of the songs Zucchero and his band, sometimes accompanied by other performes such as Noa, Texas, and Paul Young, performed over the years are available on the show’s website. Check out the amazing Elton John cover “Your Song” with Zucchero and Noa sharing vocals in English, Italian and Hebrew, the rarely played Spirito DiVino song “Papa Perché”, or the classic soul tune “The Letter” featuring Texas (and Paul Young on backing vocals) and many others here
